VILCABAMBA, ESPIRITU PAMPA, MACHUPICCHU

We started our adventure from Cusco, at approximately 7:00 AM, traveling by bus, going through the highest point of the route called Málaga Pass (4250 m), and towns such as "Huiro, Wayupata, Amaybamba, Cuquipata”, etc. We have lunch on the trip, it will be a trip where we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Andean highlands and part of the lower jungle, then arrive at the town of “Wanca Calle”.

We will visit the archaeological complex of Viqcus and then Rosaspata, very important places in the last years of resistance of the Inkas against the Spaniards. We will camp here (2870m / 9557 ft)…., by  the afternoon we will have a short walk through the area, where we will camp the first night (2870 m 9557 ft).

Today, after the country break we begin to ascend for about 3 hours, until we reach the pass of "Bilcabamba La Antigua" (4250 m / 14153 ft), then descending until the place called Mauqachacha, with the landscape changing to cloud forest vegetation , We continue the adventure towards the “Ututo” camp, here we camp (2840 m / 9457 ft). in this place there is the possibility of fishing in the Ututo stream (there is the presence of fish- trout).

This time We continue descending through a very beautiful path for about 7 hours, following the direction of the Mauqachaca River, on this day we will experience the change from a cold climate to a unique tropical climate of the area, then we will arrive at the camp called Vista Alegre (1950 m / 6494 ft), where we will spend the night.

As always after the delicious breakfast, today we continue our journey for approximately 7 hours, going through small canyons and streams surrounded by beautiful vegetation typical of the jungle, enjoying a unique and spectacular view of the region, then we will arrive at the community of Concevidayoc, here we camp (1800m / 5994ft).

Today is a nice hot day, but we will have more wild mosquitoes, so we must have mosquito repellent; after 3 hours of walking we will reach the mysterious city lost or hidden by the Incas, the archaeological site of “Espiritu Pampa”, Here we will have an afternoon with little activity, exploring the archaeological complex, and here we will prepare a Pachamanca with Andean Chicken, Yuca, Uncucha, Potatoes, etc. (typical Peruvian food based on Meat and Potatoes).

On the last day of the trek, We are still in a tropical climate, and we have a long day with most of the route downhill, following the direction of the river Chuntamayo, by afternoon we will arrive at the campsite (1400 m / 4662 ft) Here we will have the first shopping place to buy a drink such as beer, soda, Cañazo (sugarcane liqueur), etc. to celebrate our arrival. This place will be the last campsite, here end our full-day treks, and we will say goodbye to our porters and our porters.

After the delicious country breakfast, we will continue with our adventure, this time already starting the return by bus to the city of Quillabamba (5 hours approximately), then continue by bus for approximately another 3 hours to the place called Hidro, Here we will undertake a walk of approximately two hours accompanying the Vilcanota river route, finally, we will arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes, here we will spend the night in a hotel.

Today will be another very unforgettable day of our whole adventure; after breakfast we will board the bus for approximately 30 minutes to reach the archaeological complex of world wonder Machu Picchu, arriving here we will have a guided tour, then we will have our free time to continue exploring Machupicchu, once the visit is completed we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, and finally, we will take the train to return to Ollantay Tambo (2 hours), after arriving to Ollantay Tambo station we will board our bus to return to Cusco, arriving late at night to our hotel, or we can go to a hotel in Sacred Valley (end of the program).
