Kapaq Intiy Raymi: A Celebration of Light, Abundance, and Renewal

Discover the wisdom of the Andes. Embrace the magic of Tata Inty. Be part of the cycle of life.

  • Kapaq Intiy Raymi is the most significant festival dedicated to Tata Inty (Father Sun), celebrated across the lands of the ancient Tawantinsuyo (Inca Empire) every December 21st, marking the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere.

  • Rooted in the Andean-Amazonian Cosmovision, this sacred date is a time for gratitude, renewal, and connection with the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the celestial energies that influence our lives. It symbolizes the maximum expression of astral light, bringing vital energy, spiritual awakening, and harmony to individuals and communities.

  • For the heirs of the Andean-Amazonian culture, this festival is an opportunity to perform ancestral ceremonies, express gratitude to sacred deities, and ensure prosperity, balance, and protection from natural disasters. The Kapaq Yachayniyoq (Andean wise men), through their knowledge of the Qoyllurkuna ñawichay (celestial star readings), guide their communities in aligning with nature’s cycles.

  • This moment marks the transition into a new Pacha (space-time), a time of regeneration and revitalization. It is the return of Tata Inty to Kaypacha (our world), bringing warmth, fertility, and abundance. The rivers swell, the fields turn lush and green, and the first Miska (fruits of the new harvest) become available, signifying Kapaq (spiritual and material richness).
