The Major Rites: Hatun Karpay in Fullness

The Major Rites form a sacred sequence—an interconnected set of rituals that make up the Hatun Karpay, or great initiation. These rituals include invocations to Pachamama and ceremonies dedicated to the sun, water, fire, air, and other vital elements, such as the Sun Salutation, the ñusta rite, and even ceremonies honoring Wiracocha. Each act is more than just a ceremony; it is a spiritual journey through the healing medicine of Mother Earth, an invitation to connect with the sacred energy emanating from every corner of the Andes.

Here, the balance between the two sides of tradition is recognized: the phaṇa (right side) and the lloque (left side), as well as the chaupi, the middle path.
