Bringing all your recommended equipment for your tour or trek ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience as you embark on a sacred journey through Peru. The right gear allows you to fully immerse yourself in the sacred energy of these mystical landscapes while exploring the ancient route of the Incas.
We recommend packing light, bringing only the necessary and correct equipment, while considering the climate, temperature, and geography of the sacred earth journey you are about to experience. These spiritual tours in Peru and Sudamérica will take you through a variety of terrains, from frigid mountain peaks to warm valleys, making proper gear essential for your comfort.
Recommended backpacks and storage for your treks and tours
Part of the tour will lead us through the high Andes, where we will connect with Andean culture and the wisdom of the land. We suggest bringing a backpack or duffel bag to store your personal belongings (this will normally stay at the hotel or a secure storage area while we embark on our daily treks and Andean spirituality tour activities). A small personal backpack is also recommended for daily use, allowing you to carry essentials while experiencing the powerful energy of each site.
Whether you're looking for adventure, a pilgrimage, or to transform your life, the right gear will enhance your journey through the Andean lands of Peru.
Peru Alive provides a secure storage space at our main office in Urubamba, allowing you to leave your luggage before beginning your sacred journey into the heart of the Andes.
Trekking Gear & Guidelines for your treks and tours
Before starting your cuzco spiritual travel, Peru Alive will provide you with detailed trekking information. Additionally, we will give you a canvas bag for your belongings, which will be carried by our porters during the trek. Every morning, you will need to hand over this bag to our team, and it will be returned to you upon arrival at the campsite each evening.
For day hikes, you will need to carry a small backpack with essential items such as sunscreen, water, snacks, and personal necessities.
💡 Note: According to Peru Alive regulations, each traveler's bag transported by porters can weigh a maximum of 16 pounds. If you exceed this limit, an additional fee will apply. If you wish to carry extra items, please inform us at least three days before the trek or when booking your tour.
By following these guidelines, you will ensure a comfortable and transformational experience while exploring the sacred landscapes of Peru.
Additional Recommendations for your Sacred Earth Journey
PASSPORT: Always carry your original passport, as it will be required to enter many sacred sites along the route.
SLEEPING BAGS: Some campsites along the sacred journey are at high altitudes, so we recommend bringing a good-quality sleeping bag. You can also rent one from us for $7 per day, including its liner or sheet. For winter treks, we advise a 4-season sleeping bag (0 to -10°C).
SLEEPING MATTRESS: Peru Alive provides foam mattresses included in the tour price. If you prefer extra comfort, you may bring an inflatable mattress or rent one from us for $3-$4 per day.
WALKING POLES: Essential for reducing knee strain and improving stability on uneven terrain. We recommend bringing a pair or renting them for $5 per day.
WALKING SHOES: Comfortable, high-quality hiking shoes with ankle support and a strong grip are a must. Waterproof shoes are ideal, and we recommend testing them before your trek.
WATERPROOF CLOTHING: Weather in the Andes is unpredictable, so a waterproof jacket and pants are recommended. Plastic ponchos are available for purchase if needed.
TOILETRIES: Peru Alive provides a small water tub for basic hygiene at camp. Some campsites have rustic showers, so bringing a small towel and personal hygiene products (preferably travel-sized) is recommended. Wet wipes are also useful.
WATER BOTTLE: A reusable canteen (preferably aluminum) is recommended to reduce plastic waste and can also be filled with hot water at night for warmth.
EXTRA SLEEPING CLOTHES: For cold nights, pack thermal pants, a fleece hat, and gloves.
SANDALS: Comfortable slippers or sandals are recommended for wearing at camp after a long day of hiking.
By preparing properly and bringing the recommended gear, you will be ready for an unforgettable spiritual tour in Peru and Sudamérica. Let this sacred journey be a transformative experience, allowing you to connect with the powerful sacred energy of the Andes and immerse yourself in the depth of Andean spirituality.
