Ausangate+trek

ITINERARY DESCRIPTION

DAY 1: CUSCO TINKY

We start traveling by bus to the south, for approximately 5 hours by bus. We will visit some traditional towns on the routes such as Urcos, Huancarany, and Ccaqca. Then we will arrive at the town of Ocongate where you can make your last purchases. After that we continue to the Tinky community (3800m, 62654ft), in the afternoon we will have a short hike, to the Qoro Qoro mountain. Camp here.

DAY 2: UPIS

After breakfast, we begin the walk towards the community of Q'otamuro, we will walk around 8 km. Away from the open places, we will see small settlements of shepherds and weavers selling their crafts near the Ausangate mountain. the campsite here (4390m.14619ft).

DAY 3: PUCAQOCHA

Initially the path goes up with a gentle slope, we have to ascend about 800 m. to the Arapa pass (4865 m.), enjoying the view of the majestic Ausangate and Surimna mountains in front, then we descend to the Pucaqocha lake (4550m.15152ft), where we camp, this day is considered the hardest day on the trek We walked about 7 km.

DAY 4: WANUWANU

This day the trek is easy; we ascend until 4640 m. At Alkatany pass enjoying incomparable panoramic views of the Andes. We will continue on an up-hill walk to the Palomani pass at 5,050 m. (16,564 ft.). Then we descend to Chillca Pynaya valley at 4,400 m. (14,432 ft.), Where we can see grazing Alpacas, llamas, and the natural reserve of "Huallatas". We will camp here.

DAY 5: PHAQCHANTA

This day is easy, with the main part of the trail at about 4500 m. high, with a spectacular view of the Lake Qomercocha, Jawancocha, and animals from the area, such as the Vicuñas, Vizcacha and occasionally the majestic Condor. 

 

We will arrive to the campsite, where we have a natural medicinal hot springs.

DAY 6: TINKY- CUSCO

This is our last day at the Ausangate Snow Mountain. We trek around 3 hours to cross the vast hills and fields, then we will reach the community called Tinky, here we will prepare the delicious typical dish of the Andes of Peru called the Pacahmanca (food prepared with meat and potatoes, and more), place where you can buy some products from the local store such as bottled water, Soda, etc beer). (3800 m, 62654ft). by afternoon we will return to Cusco, ( about 4 hours by bus).
